Your listening position syncs to the cloud so you can pick up on another device, and your guildmates' Ghost Markers update the same way. This page covers what to do when either looks out of date.
Progress isn't showing up on another device
Cross-device sync isn't instant — Squabble saves your position on a regular cycle rather than continuously, so a small lag between devices is normal.
Give it a moment
Position syncs periodically, not every second. Wait a few seconds after switching devices before assuming it didn't work.
Pause before you switch
Tapping pause forces an immediate sync, which is the fastest way to guarantee your other device picks up the right spot.
Confirm you're signed into the same account
Progress follows your account, not the file itself — a book imported separately on two devices under different accounts won't share progress.
Ghost Markers look stuck
Guildmates' Ghost Markers update on a periodic cycle too, especially when their app is backgrounded rather than open and playing. Seeing a marker sit still for a bit right after someone starts listening again is normal — give it up to a minute to catch up. A marker that stays frozen much longer usually means that guildmate's app hasn't synced recently (closed, offline, or backgrounded for a long stretch), not a problem with your own device.
The "jump to furthest" banner
When you open a book, Squabble checks whether you've listened further than your current position before — for example, if you rewound to relisten to a scene. If so, you'll see a banner offering to jump to your furthest point. Tap it to skip ahead, or dismiss it to keep listening from where you are.
If your Furthest Position looks wrong
- Make sure you're on the latest version — a past bug could briefly reset this banner right after a reread or a progress reset.
- Starting a New Read+ deliberately resets your Furthest Position for that read-through. That's expected, not a bug.
- Reopen the book. The banner is evaluated when the player loads a book, not continuously while you scrub around.
If progress still looks wrong after a few app restarts, exporting a diagnostics log and reaching out through contact support helps us see what's happening on your account.
