Once your Audiobookshelf server is connected, its whole library is browsable from inside Squabble. This page covers finding a book, downloading it, and what happens if a download goes missing. Mobile app
Browsing your library
Tap Browse Library to see your server's books as cards with cover art, title, author, and length. A few things make it easier to find what you want:
- Use the search bar to filter by title or author as you type.
- If your server has more than one library, chips at the top let you switch between them.
- Books that belong to a series can surface as a Series result, grouping the whole set together.
Tap any book to open its details — description, chapters, narrator, genres, and identifiers like ASIN or ISBN, when your server has them.
Downloading a book
Downloading pulls the audio file from your server onto your device and adds the book to your library, same as any local import.
Open a book's details
From the library browser, tap the book you want.
Tap Import to Library
Squabble downloads the file and shows progress as a percentage.
Go to your library
When the download finishes, choose Go to Library to jump straight to it, or stay where you are.
Keeping your place in sync
While you listen to a book that came from Audiobookshelf, Squabble periodically reports your position back to the server. That keeps your progress lined up with anything else that reads from the same server — you're not stuck picking up where you left off in only one app.
This is separate from the Ghost Markers and Furthest Position your guildmates see — those keep working the same way they do for any book in your library.
Reconnecting when a download goes missing
If a downloaded file goes missing from your device — after a reinstall, for example — its library card offers to re-download instead of import from scratch.
- If your server is still connected, Squabble asks to confirm, then re-downloads the file. Your progress and chapters are already preserved, so you won't lose your place.
- If you're no longer connected, Squabble asks you to reconnect first. Once you're signed back in, the re-download picks up from there.
