Not every book stays on your active shelf forever. This page covers swipe actions, archiving, restoring, bulk cleanup, and permanent deletion.
Swipe actions
Both card and list layouts support the same two swipe gestures:
- Swipe left reveals Archive.
- Swipe right reveals Add to Guild (hidden if the book's already on your Quest Board, or if you don't have a guild yet).
Archiving a book
Archiving is Squabble's soft-remove: it stops playback if that book is currently loaded, deletes the audio file from your device, and sets the book aside — but keeps your progress, comments, and run history intact.
You can archive a book from a swipe, from the Archive from Library button on its details screen, or in bulk (below). Either way, Squabble asks you to confirm first.
Restoring an archived book
Tap the Archived filter chip to see everything you've set aside. Open a book from that list and tap Re-import audio file (or Re-download from Audiobookshelf for a book that came from a server) — this both restores the book to your active library and starts pulling its audio back onto your device.
Bulk archiving
When several books are missing their audio at once — most often after a reinstall — Squabble lets you clear them out in one pass instead of archiving one at a time.
Open the Not on Device filter
Tap the Not on Device chip, or the Select books to archive link on the full-library recovery screen.
Tap Select
This switches the list into selectable rows with checkboxes.
Choose books and confirm
Tap each book you want gone, or Select All, then tap Archive N books at the bottom to confirm.
Deleting a book permanently
Permanent deletion is a second step, reachable only on a book that's already archived — open it and tap Delete permanently. This removes the book, your progress, and your run history from every device. Your guild's comments and Topics on that book stay with the guild.
