Audiobookshelf (ABS) is a free, open-source audiobook server that you — or a friend — run yourselves, rather than one Squabble hosts for you. Connect it once, and its library becomes another source for adding books to Squabble.
A server you control
Audiobookshelf runs on hardware you own: a home server, a small computer like a Raspberry Pi, or anything else set up to host it. It stores your audiobook files and streams them to apps that connect to it, organized into libraries the same way a media server organizes movies or music. Squabble doesn't run this server or store your Audiobookshelf credentials — it just talks to a server you already have.
Why connect it to Squabble
If you already keep your audiobooks on an Audiobookshelf server, connecting it means you don't have to move files around by hand. Once connected, you can:
- Browse everything on your server's library without leaving Squabble.
- Download a book straight into your Squabble library, ready to play.
- Keep your listening position in sync with the server, so progress isn't stuck in one app.
Books that come from Audiobookshelf work exactly like any other book in your library — Ghost Markers, Timestamp Comments, and the Quest Board all treat them the same way. Connecting ABS doesn't change how the social side of Squabble works. Mobile app
