Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 17, 2026

Squabble Inn ("Squabble," "we," "us") is a social audiobook companion. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. The short version: we collect what the app needs to work, we share your listening activity only with your guildmates, and we never sell your data or show you ads.

What we collect

Account information. When you create an account we collect your email address and display name. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your email and name from that provider through Firebase Authentication. We also store the profile choices you make in the app, such as your avatar, adventurer class, and equipped titles.

Listening activity. To power guild features, we store the titles and authors of audiobooks you add to your library, your listening progress in those books, and related activity such as completed quests and achievements. Your audio files themselves are never uploaded to us — they stay on your device or on your own Audiobookshelf server.

Content you create. Comments, discussion topics, tavern messages, guild names, and similar content you post are stored so they can be shown to your guildmates.

Push notification tokens. If you enable notifications, we store a device token (via Firebase Cloud Messaging) so we can deliver them. Declining notifications is always available and nothing else breaks.

Crash and diagnostic data. We use Sentry to collect crash reports and basic diagnostic information (device model, OS version, app version) so we can fix bugs. We do not use session replay or performance tracing.

What we don't collect. No location, contacts, camera, microphone, or photo access. No advertising identifiers, no cross-app tracking, no analytics profiles, no sale of personal information — to anyone, ever.

How your information is used

  • To provide the service: sync your progress, show ghost markers to your guild, deliver spoiler-safe comments at the right moments.
  • To send notifications you've opted into (guild activity, new comments).
  • To keep the Inn safe: enforcing our Terms & Code of Conduct, reviewing reported content, and filtering objectionable material.
  • To diagnose and fix crashes and bugs.

Who can see your information

Your guildmates can see your display name, avatar, the books you share with a guild, your listening progress in those books, and the content you post. That visibility is the point of the app — guilds are small (up to 6 members) and invite-only.

Service providers. We use Google Firebase (authentication, database, cloud functions, push messaging) and Sentry (crash reporting) to operate Squabble. These providers process data on our behalf and are bound by their own privacy commitments. We do not share your information with anyone else except as required by law.

Audiobookshelf. If you connect a self-hosted Audiobookshelf server, your credentials are stored encrypted on your device and your device talks to your server directly. We never see your server's contents.

Data retention and deletion

Your data is retained while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from inside the app: Settings → Delete Account. This removes your Firebase account, your profile, library, progress, and personal data, and removes you from your guilds. Content you posted in guild discussions is deleted or anonymized ("Deleted adventurer") so conversations your guildmates are part of aren't destroyed. Deletion may take a few minutes to complete across our systems.

You can also email us at support@squabble.app to request deletion or a copy of your data.

Children

Squabble Inn is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes we will update the effective date above and, for significant changes, notify you in the app. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
